Crazy people (and by crazy, I mean in the clinical sense) tend to take scripture and apply an out-of-context literalist approach to the text. The results are sometimes rather humorous, and sometimes... sometimes the results are just plain sad.

Here is a sad example.

(full-text from article)

KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.

Mmm hm.

Ouch. What do you think he was thinking when the lioness made him her lunch?

He probably didn't care, since I doubt he was mentally competent. Maybe he had a last minute "oh, maybe this is a bad idea" moment, in which case I'm sure he didn't die happily.

At least the lioness got the carotid quickly - bleeding out from there makes for a quick death. It would suck if the lions chewed on his leg or something while he was still screaming. Predators generally try to make it quick. It wastes calories to let the prey struggle for too long.
