THIS EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES

I've done it.

Back in February, I decided that I was no longer buying new clothes as a way to thumb my nose at corporations that thrive on the mindless masses who are compelled to buy the latest fashion items.

I've noticed that my jeans were wearing thin and were starting their trek towards the work-in-the-garage pile. I don't mind that, but my employer doesn't allow thread-bare jeans on jeans-day. So... it was time to find new jeans.

I checked on craigslist, and some guy was selling several Levi's 560 jeans that were my size - 34W x 32L. I stopped by his house this last weekend and took a look, and after going through his stock, I left with two pairs of jeans and a set of Docker's shorts, all in great shape and for only $23. That's less than the cost of a single pair of Levi's jeans.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Meh, I've been shopping at Goodwill since I was 12, so I guess my version of cool is different. :)

ah. Cool, cool. I rarely buy clothes anyway, so this hasn't been that much of a transition for me. For me, it's just been a matter of convincing my wife not to buy me any new clothes. :)
