We don’t see “repent to be forgiven” as a theme in Genesis 3.
We don’t see “eternal separation from God as a consequence of sin” as a theme in Genesis 3.
What we have is brokenness and shame, a God who covers us when we can’t cover ourselves, and a God who leaves the garden with us when we tumble out of our state of innocence. God carries us.
We call it “the fall,” but that’s the wrong focus. It’s the “lifting up” that we should see and celebrate. It’s a good story full of hope.
