It’s hard to believe that I’ve actually launched this thing. I don’t really have much else to say about it. I’m just giddy about the whole thing.

I didn’t know how much work was involved in self-publishing, but apparently, it’s such an ordeal that there are thousands of youtube videos explaining how to do it. Yesterday, I had 7 hours of driving to do (3.5 hours down, and 3.5 hours back up), so I queued up a bunch of videos to learn the process.
Here’s my current checklist. Most of it is done!
Back in 2002, long before the term “deconstructing” hit the mainstream, I struggled to figure out my faith apart the church that brought me into a knowledge of Christ as Savior. I spent so much time defending the church and the whole denomination from criticisms of legalism and leanings of works-based salvation that I was blind to the problems that were hurting the people around me.
I didn’t call it “deconstructing.” I called it “Separating Christianity from Churchianity.”
In 2004, I started this website as a way to address issues with the church institution. I branded it as “a healthy criticism of the modern day church” and tried to build community among people who felt similarly. The site originally held a forum that allowed people to speak to hurts and hypocrisy that they experienced. We found solidarity in our shared burdens. But there was something missing. The site didn’t really provide an avenue for solutions. Just complaints.
Because I didn’t see any healthy progress, I shelved the original idea and rebranded the site to be a “healthy criticism of everything. It was just a place for me to document my random ideas and projects. It included musings about politics and faith and social commentary.
It’s time for a return to the original design of this website.
