Perhaps every command is also a promise. Look closely at Genesis 2:16.
“You shall not eat” can also literally be read “you -will- not eat.” A future statement. A promise.
One day, we will no longer know both joy and suffering. Just joy. But in the present life, having eaten it, we will all surely die.
But one day, we will no longer eat of that fruit. We will eat from the tree of life instead.
That’s the promise hidden in the command.
